Signs you'd benefit from data points
Modern homes run on internet: video calls, streaming, online gaming, security cameras and smart devices all compete for Wi-Fi. Brick walls, double-storey layouts and distance from the router make things worse. You may benefit from wired data points if:
- Video calls drop out or freeze in your home office.
- Streaming buffers on the TV furthest from the modem.
- Gaming consoles suffer from lag or disconnections.
- Wi-Fi barely reaches the back of the house, granny flat or studio.
- You're renovating or building, and walls are open. It's the cheapest time to add cabling.

More about data, TV and antenna points in Adelaide
Wi-Fi is convenient, but nothing beats a cable for reliable speed. Odin Electric installs data points, network cabling and TV points so your home office, smart TV and gaming console get the connection they need.
Cabling for how you live and work now
Data points. Wired network points in the home office, lounge, bedrooms or anywhere you need a fast, stable connection.
Network cabling. Structured cabling from your modem or router location to points around the home or office.
TV points. New and relocated TV points, including wall-mounted TV setups with cables concealed in the wall.
Wi-Fi access points. Cabling for ceiling or wall-mounted access points to improve Wi-Fi coverage in larger homes.
Small office cabling. Data points for desks, printers and meeting rooms in small offices and shops.
Fault finding. Tracing dead TV and data points and damaged cabling.
Signs you'd benefit from data points
If you're renovating, plan data and TV points alongside power points and lighting. Running cable while walls are open is far easier than retrofitting later. See our renovations and new builds page.
Frequently asked questions
Will data points make my internet faster?
A wired connection won't make your internet plan faster than it is, but it removes Wi-Fi as a bottleneck. Wired devices usually get more consistent speed and lower lag than they would over Wi-Fi, especially in rooms far from the router.
What type of cable do you use for data?
We use quality network cable suited to modern home and small office networks. We'll recommend the cable category to suit your needs.
Can you hide the cables for a wall-mounted TV?
In most plasterboard walls, yes. We can install power and TV or data points behind the TV and run the cables inside the wall. Brick and double-brick walls need a different approach, which we'll discuss with you.
Can you do power points and data points in the same visit?
Yes. Doing both together is efficient, particularly for home offices and entertainment areas. See our power points and wiring page.
